Taekwonmudo HTA

Taekwonmudo HTA is a professional Taekwondo school with multiple locations spread across the Netherlands. The website was developed in 2021 to give potential students the ability to easily request a trial lesson at one of the available locations.

The website features a blog with short, interesting facts about Taekwondo and Mudo. Every location has its own news feed where you can find information about where the lessons take place and other practical information.

The site is built with Elementor, which works wonderfully for loading dynamic content such as blog posts sorted by category or news items filtered by location. The WordPress dashboard stays clean and organized because Elementor is practically the only active plugin.

The biggest challenge on this project was migrating old posts and integrating them into the new website. I had to go straight into the MySQL back-end to retrieve the old posts from the previous site.

The plan was to create an empty table in the SQL database and import the old posts. Unfortunately, the categories and featured images did not import correctly, which broke the entire SQL back-end of the site with the familiar "A critical error has occurred" message.

The solution: I reinstalled everything from scratch. By setting up a virtual environment with a temporary MariaDB server, I was able to view the old posts and export and import them to the new site one by one. A work-around, but it worked perfectly.
